Gone are the days of converting a street car into a race car. Race Cars now start out as chalk marks on the garage floor with a computer and drafting table close at hand. This is a book of details; what works; why it works; and what it takes to get it to work. This in not a book for late night entertainment.This author has paid his dues and if this book is carefully absorbed with a clear head and pencil at hand; the race car builder will arrive with a much smaller pile of ideas and parts that didn't work. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that he didn't spend much ink on cars intended for road racing. The theory here is, 'if you can build a car that turns left, you should be able to build one that also turns right'. Plus can handle hills, valleys, off camber corners, and race in the rain for hours on end. Here's where the clear head and pencil really come into play.
Good book. Lots of relevant information. Mr. Bolles has a different philosophy than many do in setting up a race car, but his ideas do work when applied in a scientific way. Main thing I would like to see is the information coupled together a bit better (relating topics, and relating logical connections).
Great book to learn about racecar setups and such. Sometimes the wording gets confusing but it served as a great basis for me to start understanding the components to setups.
Bob Bolles book is a must read for anyone that wants to improve their race chassis.

great bood on how to design a chassis and suspension
I enjoyed this book. It is well written and goes into in depth description of how a race car suspension works and should handle. I work on road course stock cars, but found this book very informative.
well written. a lot of interesting race car principles are discussed. Every driver should have an understanding of the basics
