This book follows the movie verbatim. Cannot tell which came first. Was hoping to read insights not portrayed in movie (which I saw before reading the book). This however does not detract from the incredible story and life/accomplishments of Jay and Frosty. I am a 47yo landlocked Texan who has taken up surfing, inspired by Jay.
I gave this book a 5 star rating , because it was so heart warming and the story and setup are just beautiful. I highly recommend this book for all the young surfers or anyone that wants a funny, sad , and inspirational story this book is great. The author makes u feel as if you are really there in the set. Through some hardships and good parts this book truly has it all. May Jay RIP. «Live Like Jay : ) »
I loved the movie and the book was fabulous as well, a very emotional book for me. I can identify with the characters being a surfer since the 1960's and the addictive attraction of the ocean.
I AM ADDICTED TO THIS BOOK AND MOVIE I OWN THE MOVIE AND THE BOOK IT IS MY FAVOURITE BOOK AND MOVIE TIED WITH THE HUNGER GAMES SERIES.
