About the Author
Gene D. Cohen, M.D., Ph.D., is Director of the Center on Aging, Health & Humanities at George Washington University, where he holds the positions of Professor of Health Care Sciences and Professor of Psychiatry. He is founding director of the Washington, D.C., Center on Aging and past president of the Gerontological Society of America. He has appeared on Nightline, The MacNeil/Lehrer Report, and the CBS Nightly News, and has appeared in a series of public service messages on aging with George Burns and Steve Allen. He invented an intergenerational board game (sort of a cross between chess and Scrabble) that was selected by an international art jury for a three-year museum tour.

The author's own experiences in working with and interviewing older people adds a sincere insight into the creative workings and abilities of this group. He intersperses research studies with concrete examples of those who use and maintain their creativity into their 80s, 90s and beyond.Interesting sidebar references highlight many known individuals throughout human history who used their creativity well past the age of 50.A must read for anyone who thinks they are too "old" to try something new.
Dr Cohen underscores the human necessity for creativity throughout life. This is an easy read with hidden pearls of wisdom. It is a must read for anyone who mistakenly believes creativity belongs to the chronologically young.
It was fascinating and so full of vital information. Also, it was a very positive and uplifting book to realize that even when you get a little older, you still can be very creative! I have recommended it to many of my friends. I also like the attitude of the author, and I thank him for writing this book and his earlier book...we're lucky to have authors like him.
An excellent, don't-live-without-it book. A compendium of valuable information that every gracefully-aging persons like myself should have because it makes aging more understandable and graceful. Detailed and highly relevant.
